William Collier: Synopsis of a Memoir, Pt. 40 - Detour, Dedicated to Bebe Rademaker

May 26, 2016

Yesterday I was informed of the passing of a cherished friend who I hold in the esteem realm of people who's influence is so selflessly potent, knowing them is an absolute honor. Mary "BeBe" Rademaker a client, confidante, and amazing friend for over thirty years will hold a place in my heart, a beam of infinite brightness.

One of my favorite recollections was a phone call I received about twenty three years ago. I was about halfway through a cosmetic face lift on a new salon space when BeBe called around 9:00 AM wanting to know what I was doing. She knew I was preparing my new salon and when I shared that I was about to begin painting, she asked if I had an extra paint brush. I thought she was just joking around. She said, "I am coming to paint your bathroom." She arrived about thirty minutes later and was there painting until it was finished. We had a great time laughing and joking. That bathroom was untouched by a paint brush for the next ten years. Her visits to our Salon were enjoyed by all. She was an inspiration that elevated the bar through her sincere appreciation for our hair services -- a smile that would light up a room.

This day brings the impact of shock and luminous reality that the absence of someone who gave so much is residing in a place where the brightness of her presence remains a perpetual glow. BeBe unknowingly contributed to my life and to my aliveness...she always got right to the point with maximum accuracy. ♥
