For 19 years, TLC has created safe, healing environments for people suffering from or affected by hair pulling and skin picking. In coming together at TLC events, thousands of lives have been touched, often in deep and profound ways. The Annual Retreat offers a special opportunity to find solace, re-ignite hope and discover effective pathways to wholeness and recovery.

This Retreat is for those who:- Are weary of living with hair pulling and / or skin picking- Experience shame, hopelessness, frustration, or other negative states as a result of these behaviors.- Feel as if you have tried everything.- Seek more tools and a reduction of these behaviors.- Want to feel whole and comfortable with yourself.- Seek freedom from compulsion.- Suffer seeing one you love struggle with these problems.- Feel helpless to help one you love, and that you've exhausted all resources.- Are willing to be somewhat uncomfortable during the process of positive change.- Are interested in experiencing your own life more deeply, in a more fulfilling way.

The 19th Annual TLC Retreat will be set in a rustic, natural environment, creating an opportunity to step away from regular patterns and surroundings, and be embraced by the beauty of nature. This year’s Retreat offers a safe space in which real change can occur as a result of exposure to new experiences and accurate information. Although solid basic education will be presented, the Retreat process also utilizes introspection, contemplation, meditation, and experientially-focused workshops. A primary Retreat goal is to improve the moment-to-moment experience of both living with and healing from chronic body-focused behaviors.

As part of the Retreat process, although you know the intent, goals, and environment before attending, you will not receive the actual workshop agenda until you arrive at Ramblewood. This ensures you are coming to the Retreat with an open mind and open heart!

Workshops will cover a wide range of topics—from basic neurobiology and behavioral change strategies to enhancing self-care; from learning to set better emotional boundaries to mindfulness techniques; from understanding the need for action to grieving for time lost; from meditation skills to interpersonal communication; from makeup application and hair and skin care techniques to developing resources for the road to recovery (whether you are 10 years old or 60 years old). There is also plenty of time to swim, hike, relax, get a facial, haircut, or massage (extra fees apply for these services), and even sing karaoke! (These are favorite aspects of the Retreat for many attendees.)

Although relief and healing may come from connecting electronically through websites, chat rooms, etc., there is something fundamentally different about spending time in person with those who truly understand from the inside out, and seek the same freedom from suffering that you do. The Retreat is an extraordinary opportunity to learn from each other, and from some of the leading BFRB treatment providers and session facilitators in the world, including:
